NYR/LAK 1/20 Review: The Slump-Busting Blueshirts Give Another Opponent a Rebounding Victory; Find-A-New-Way-To-Lose Rangers Do It Again, The Panarin “Playing With Fire” Continues; Reaches New Heights Too, Clueless Beat Fooled By Soucy, Another Two-Man Power-Play Failure; Schneider Especially Stinky, Silly Sully’s Stupid Squad Piss All Over Quick’s Forty Birthday Candles; Just an Utter Disgrace, M$GN Go Into Full Propaganda Mode; Boyle & Albert Know Better, Loss to SJS Up Next & More

Yawn. On Tuesday night, now in the City of Angels and the Rangers dropped a 4-3 decision to the Kings. For those of you who were smarter than me – which is to mean that you prioritized sleep over bad hockey – then don’t let the final score featuring a one-goal difference fool you. The silver-and-black attack completely dominated the Big Apple Bozos – and even when facing both undaunted and unfortunate circumstances. As it goes – then no team in the league is a bigger slump-buster than the Blueshirts – and as always – Sully’s Squad lived up to this reputation again. Perhaps the saddest takeaway of them all? Then the fact that this bad loss wasn’t even one of the Rangers’ top-five worst defeats of the season. BLOW IT UP – and someone WAKE UP James Dolan too!

Greetings and salutations everyone and welcome to another blog here on BlueCollarBlueShirts.com. Man, oh man, did I ever make a mistake!

(PROGRAMMING NOTE: I’m running on no sleep and had no time to proof-read what you’re about to read below. That said, and I think that you’ll get the gist of it! Thank you for your attention to this matter!)

While yes, rushing home from my late night shift at work to not only watch Tuesday night’s 4-3 loss to the Kings was a huge mistake – but to then write about it too was even worse than that; but mirror, mirror, on the wall, then what’s the biggest error of them all?

The fact that I’m still here watching and recapping every game of this crappy centennial season.

I’m literally losing sleep over this!

As it’s been routinely reminded to me by both my friends and readers alike, including the legendary Stan Fischler – and as I often remind myself too – then over the summer, and knowing in my bones that this was going to be a bad season – and I said that I was thinking about giving up on this site for a while.

After all, then there are better things that I can be doing with my time – including painting my house – and then watching that paint dry!

As stated then (site archives don’t lie) – and I saw this season as a complete free-fall – and as I said immediately after the news first broke that Chris Drury was extended via new contract – and where in his first move, the clown general manager then decided to trade away Chris Kreider for nothing in return.

We’re now 51 games into this miserable mess, which equates to about 153 hours wasted when watching this pathetic team – and about another 153 hours shot to shit when writing about these wretched affairs too.

That’s over 300 hours of my own time wasted!

For a writer who loves his cliches, then both “time flies” and “life is short” apply here!

Do you know what is the craziest, extremely psychopathic and most self-mutilating thing about all of this?

Not only that I’m still here – but I plan on finishing out this season with the few of you guys and gals who are still left – as many fans, and rightfully so, have bailed on these bad Blueshirts long ago.

For ilk like us, then at least we can always grasp to the word “CULTURE” – am I right?

If you thought that Peter Lateralette was a clown, then how are you feeling about Drury and his bed buddy Mike Sullivan these days?

It was another same old Rangers’ loss on Tuesday night (including the fact that they are now 0-8 during the second-half of back-to-back games played this season) – but of course – with some new wrinkles mixed in-between too.

The Blueshirts’ made sure to hit their signature staple, at the arena formerly known as “The Staples Center,” at just the 18-second mark of the match – as Adrian Kempe put the home team ahead, 1-0, after a give-and-go play with Brandt Clarke.

I must also be honest with you here too:

While I’ve heard the name “Brandt Clarke” before; then, and prior to tonight – and I would have never been able to pick him out of a police line-up.

This is also mainly because while I do watch some west coast/late night games – then the Kings aren’t one of the teams that I regularly seek out – and as opposed to Anaheim (all of the ex-Rangers), Edmonton (two of the best players in the world) and now San Jose (Macklin Celebrini is unreal).

Clarke, soon-to-be 23-years-old, was the Kings’ eighth-overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, and where last year, the defenseman completed his first/rookie season in the big-time.

However, then you would’ve thought that he was Bobby freakin’ Orr had you just watched Tuesday night’s game in a vacuum.

Hell, you also would’ve thought that he was the son of Bobby Clarke too! (He’s not.)

While Clarke only finished with this one assist (on Kempe’s goal), and nary a point elsewhere; but despite the lone point – and he was flying around all over the place.

He pretty much played how Beckett Sennecke did on Monday night against the Rangers.

Just pure domination.

With Clarke making plays in both ends – then it was no surprise when I checked the box score after the game to see that he finished as a game-high +3.

Braden Schneider, drafted one-year prior to Clarke?

Well, we’ll get into him soon enough!

To put a face to the name – then here’s one of the Kings that tortured the Rangers’ queens on Tuesday night – Brandt Clarke. Photo Credit: ESPN

After Clarke and Kempe connected for the early goal – as nobody gives up more goals at the start of any period than the Rangers – and the Kings continued to impose their physical presence on the meddling visitors.

And while yes, the Blueshirts do have their own injuries (and just like everyone else); but the Kings, losers in their past four-games played and desperate for a win, were also without their two biggest names too – Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty.

Elsewhere, and while not as prominent as Kopitar and Doughty – and Trevor Moore was also among the missing Kings’ men.

No matter – as the Rangers are the most charitable team in the league – and in turn – allowed the Kings, and just like every other foe not named the Flyers this season, to earn one of their best wins of the season.

But of course, and the home team were also gracious hosts too – and as they were at the 8:18 mark.

It was at this moment when a shot sent off the stick of Scott Morrow had deflected off of Will Cuylle. The rebound then bounced off of the skate of Kings’ rearguard Jacob Moverare, and then into the net of starting goaltender, Darcy Kuemper.

1-1.

A gift of a goal too.

After that?

Then the Kings were done toying around, as just 42-seconds following their present to Cuylle – and there was Kevin Fiala, off an o-zone draw, to just walk in and beat Jonathan Quick, on the eve of his 40th birthday, for the 2-1 hometown goal.

Down to 3:24 remaining in the period, then Mika Zibanejad and J.T. Miller hooked up on a nice little offensive play of their own – and really – the only lone scoring highlight for the Rangers on this night – and as they did when #93 found Captain Culture for the 2-2 equalizer.

As we hit under ninety-seconds remaining with this 2-2 score still in-tact, then both teams were on the verge of reaching eight shots on goal each – which also meant that both teams were shooting at 25%.

In the case of Quick, then both of his goals allowed were of the one-vs-one variety after some bad defense and miscues.

In the case of Kuemper, one was a gift and the other was a pretty looking goal.

That said, and it did feel like Quick was more rock-steady than his successor in Los Angeles.

While the Rangers would’ve lost this game regardless; but the turning point of the match took place with just fifty-seconds remaining in the first frame, as Jonny Brodzinski, on a 2 x 1 odd-man rush that then turned into a breakaway, made slight contact with Kuemper as the Kings’ backstop was trying, and eventually successfully at that, making the save.

In what was a HOCKEY PLAY, and nothing dirty at all, and this light contact did enough to ring Kuemper’s bell a bit – as after wobbly skating around – he left the game.

Enter the cold-as-ice Anton Forsberg, the L.A. back-up – and perhaps a goalie that got somewhat of a break due to the fact that the game was only fifty-ticks away from an intermission – thus giving himself some time to mentally prepare.

Forsberg, who didn’t see a shot in the first period, would then see plenty of them.

The second period was the start of “The Forsberg Showcase Hour” – as the Kings’ back-up goalie then made 27 consecutive saves.

He only gave up a goal on his 28th shot faced – and that took place with only 25-seconds remaining in regulation time.

But prior to that?

Then the Rangers gave up another goal from three-feet out, as this time, and at the 4:23 mark of the second stanza, and Jeff Malott found Taylor Ward, Ward shot the puck, the puck hit Schneider’s stick and as a result – the rubber found Quick’s twine for the Kings’ 3-2 goal.

Despite this unfortunate goal allowed, which was also similar to the first Rangers’ goal scored – and the Blueshirts had a chance to not only re-tie the game – but grab a lead too.

At the 8:22 mark, Alex Laferriere took umbrage with Cuylle crashing Forsberg’s net, and as a result, was sent to the box for roughing.

Some 25-seconds later and Joel Edmundson tripped Vincent Trocheck when entering the Kings’ zone.

This all set-up a two-man, 5 x 3 power-play for the Rangers – and as opposed to the night before, when the Blueshirts had the same situation for 22-seconds – and the Blueshirts had 1:36 of clock to work with here.

As noted, then Forsberg’s entry to the match was the turning point of the contest – and it was during these 96-seconds where he earned his first star of the game too.

Forsberg, who was flawless in this second period, as he went 16/16, made seven – yes, SEVEN, short-handed saves during these do-or-die ninety-six seconds.

And you know what I always say – and for the reminder, then here you go:

IF YOU CAN’T SCORE ON A FIVE-MINUTE MAJOR, A FOUR-MINUTE DOUBLE-MINOR OR DURING AN EXTENDED 5 X 3 POWER-PLAY – THEN YOU DESERVE TO LOSE!

And lose the Rangers did!

Soon after Forsberg was done making the Blueshirts look foolish?

Then Andrei Kuzmenko doubled-up the Kings’ lead with his 4-2 goal at the 12:37 mark – and a score that eventually became the game-winning goal too – as the Blueshirts proved that a broken clock is still correct twice a day – and as they did during garbage time via their 6 x 5, extra attacker, meaningless goal.

Sully’s Squad, still down 4-2 to open the third-and-final frame, were just out-played, out-matched, out-hustled, out-worked and soon out the door too.

The Kings seemingly had made the score 5-2 with just under ten-minutes remaining, but the Blueshirts, who just kept catching break-after-break all game, got another one here, as a Laferriere goal was overturned after a questionable goalie interference call. (Ignored in the overturned goal? How Corey Perry was high-sticked by Sam Carrick at the same time.)

No matter, as once the three-goal lead was erased from the board – and all the Kings did was attack, attack and attack.

Sullivan’s response?

He not only double-shifted to the soon-to-be-traded NDA Panarin – but the dummy head coach also gave the alleged sexual assaulter the most ice time of any forward too (21:54)!

With the Blueshirts having no shot of winning this game – then, and as now noted three times on this site this week – I was just waiting for a season-ending injury to be sustained – thus ruining the Rangers’ chances of getting anything back in return for the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent.

I mean, what are we doing here?

Either trade him tomorrow Drury or sit him!

Heck, re-sign him too – as at least that would give you some protection when going into next season.

It’s like the Blueshirts are just begging to put the bread on the shelf – and rather than selling it off for a profit in return!

Only the Rangers, only the Rangers.

Still down 4-2 as the waning minutes of regulation time hit us, then Quick was pulled with 2:48 to go.

For the birthday boy, who fought valiantly, then all he could do was watch his skaters aimlessly flail-and-fail around.

Sullivan, who I would’ve fired ten times tonight, kept on prolonging the game/the end result – and as he did once more with 33-seconds remaining – as he called a timeout in order to seemingly draw up a two-goal play.

To his credit, then Captain Culture did catch Forsberg, from off-the-boards, off-guard – and as he did with 25.8 seconds remaining.

4-3.

But once again – and it was too little, too late, for this bad Blueshirts’ bunch.

As a result Part I: And Quick, who deserves so much better than these losers, is still without a win since Election Day time.

As a result Part II: And the Rangers are losers in ten of their past twelve games played since Christmas.

As a result Part III: And it’s hard to find anyone linked with this organization who is remotely likeable.

And that last part also applies to two people that I actually do enjoy – M$GN announcers Brian Boyle and Kenny Albert – and as I’ll fully explain during tonight’s GAME REVIEW segment.

In case you missed it, then here’s where I last left off, Monday night’s 5-3 loss in Anaheim:

Site archives and social media postings don’t lie – I’ve been a full supporter of every Rangers’ head coach until the day when Peter Lateralette was hired. I have previously defended and promoted the likes of Tom Renney, John Tortorella, Alain Vigneault, David Quinn and Gerard Gallant. So when I call out people like Lateralette, and today, Sullivan too – then it says something – as I’m not just one of these people who scream “FIRE THE HEAD COACH” all-season. I never liked the Sullivan hiring. I’ve always said he was a product of Sidney Crosby. I told you how bad the Penguins did during his last seven seasons there – and I’ve always maintained that his hiring, one of pure nepotism, was only done because Drury has a close-and-personal relationship with him. Much like Drury, who needs to be axed, then if the Rangers really want to “retool” – then Sully needs to go too. But since he’s the highest-paid coach in all of the sport today – then there is no way James Dolan is going to eat the $28M salary still owed to the most overpaid bench boss in the world.

Going into tonight, then here’s what I said prior to puck drop on my Tweeter/X account (https://x.com/NYCTheMiC/ ):

“By the end of tonight’s Rangers’ game against L.A. and Quick will turn 40-years-old – and where I fully expect the Blueshirts to shit on his cake too.”

Bingo – and do I know my Blueshirts or what?

As far as any pregame news goes, then it was light.

After all, then the Blueshirts had embarrassed themselves the day before, thus didn’t have a practice on Tuesday morning.

However, then prior to the game and both Carson Soucy and Mike Sullivan were made available to the media – and where it was then revealed that the defenseman’s recent absence wasn’t trade related – as instead – Soucy and the Missus welcomed their third child to the world, a one Ms. Dutton Soucy.

Once again and this Rangers’ news kind of telling – as not one beat reporter was aware that Soucy’s wife was even pregnant.

And before you say something to me like, “well, maybe the beat reporters didn’t want to talk about Soucy’s personal life” – then let me put a FULL STOP to that bunk-and-junk too.

After all, then once Soucy left the team last week – and not one reporter knew what was going on – and in fact – then even pondered if this move was trade-related.

All of this just tells me that the bird-brain beat reporters, and as we already knew, have no personal relationships with any of these players – a lost art from the good old days – and back when you had real reporters – and not a bunch of millennial food critics.

The new father of three, Soucy, obviously subjected to trade rumors due to his pending status as an unrestricted free agent, talked about his future with the Rangers.

“Just kind of focus on my play here,” said Soucy. “Focus on playing well, trying to get wins. That’s kind of where your head has to be. Otherwise, obviously, it can be a little distracting.”

For Soucy, then all of this news has to be whirlwind for him, as now with a new mouth to feed – and he’ll have to look for a new temporary residence soon enough.

Elsewhere, and word-salad Sully decided to use his face-time to address the status of his defense with the still injured Adam Fox:

“I think Foxy is an elite player. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for how hard he competes defensively, so I think that’s part of it. He’s not an easy guy to replace. But that’s not the only reason. I think we’ve got to make more of a commitment to playing defense. We have to value defense.”

You saw no defense tonight.

Certainly not from Schneider!

You also didn’t see many occasions where the Rangers could clear or move pucks either.

Here was Sully’s line-up for the fifty-first game of this rotten 2025-26 season:

FIRST LINE: Miller/Mika/Perreault

SECOND LINE: Panarin/Trocheck/Lafreniere

THIRD LINE: Othmann/Laba/Cuylle

FOURTH LINE: Brodzinski/Carrick/Raddysh

FIRST PAIR: Gavrikov/Schneider

SECOND PAIR: Soucy/Borgen

THIRD PAIR: Robertson/Morrow

I want to stress that I enjoy both Kenny Albert and Brian Boyle. However, then I must stay true to myself too! This is my way of saying that these two were completely overboard in their roles of company pitchmen tonight – and where it felt like you were being shoveled M$G/NYR propaganda down your throat all night long too. Photo Credit: M$GN

As the M$GN broadcast, once again live on location, and vastly superior than last night’s edition too, opened up, then we were reminded that tonight’s tilt wasn’t only a homecoming for the birthday boy in net – but for Vladislav Gavrikov too.

Let me get this out of my system and then drop it – as this took place throughout the pregame show, during the game and then into the post-game show too.

Kenny Albert and Brian Boyle were pushing so much propaganda that you would’ve thought that they got their training in North Korea.

But let me be fair and say this too:

I COMPLETELY GET IT.

While Albert is a savvy vet, a future Hall of Fame caller too; but this is also his first year as the full-time T.V. voice of the Rangers.

And let’s not forget that Dolan had previously fired his Hall of Fame father, Marv Albert (Knicks), as well.

(Funny enough? After his firing from the basketball team and Albert continued his NBA announcing career on national television – which is where his son resides today in both the NHL and NFL.)

For the family man Boyle (he has young kids at home), whose new broadcasting career is ascending in his post-playing days, then this is a job that he doesn’t want to lose either.

After all, then if he gets the pink slip from M$GN, then he’ll be forced to do that terrible podcast with Mollie “Giggles, Who is Mark Messier?” Walker on a full-time basis!

So again, I understand what their jobs are, who they work for and what they have to do too – but that doesn’t mean that I have to enjoy it either.

I mean, the Rangers are losers in ten of their last twelve, have been dog shit all season and where the clown general manager just released “The Letter 2.0” too.

I’m not exaggerating when I say the following:

Boyle and Albert, and no less than fifty times tonight, went on-and-on about all of the individual point streaks that both Panarin and Mika had going.

By the end of the night?

Then I’m glad that Panarin went pointless tonight – as at least we won’t have to hear about it anymore.

(Mika, one shot on goal, did pick up an assist in order to continue whatever his consecutive game point-streak now is.)

The Rangers ABSOLUTELY suck.

I don’t care about who has a ten-game point streak.

I want a WINNING STREAK – or at least I did before I found myself in the “TANK” camp.

For three-hours, then all you heard was Boyle and Albert slap each other on the backs as they praised individual performances – and where for me – then all I care about is the overall TEAM PERFORMANCE.

It got worse during the post-game show, as Boyle had the audacity to say that the Blueshirts played hard, got some bad breaks and showed some effort.

What game was he watching?

And Boyle knows better – I KNOW THIS – but he also has a family to feed too – so again – and I get why he lied to us.

But c’mon man.

The Rangers were on the wrong side of a one-goal game?

Not even close!

They got buried into their own zone most of the game, couldn’t score on a 5 x 3 power-play for the second consecutive night, got nothing out of the FAT CATS aside from a rare one-night show out of Captain Culture – and again – against a home team that entered the game on a four-game losing streak, without two of their best players, missing another – and who were then forced to shove their back-up out there once their starter went down.

Enough of the bullshit.

And should Boyle and Albert want to only speak in a positive manner?

Then talk about Sam Carrick – the only one with balls on this team.

Furthermore?

Then this is where you really missed Dave Maloney.

After all, Maloney, who bleeds the bluest of blue, absolutely went off on Schneider, and for three-minutes at that, during his last broadcast (Ottawa).

I know that it hurts to say the truth on M$GN airwaves – but Ranger fans also appreciate when they aren’t being lied to.

As I always say, “misery loves company!”

This would be my choice for captain – but sadly – and I think that Carrick, and because he could help any contender in a depth role, will be moved by the trade deadline.

GAME REVIEW time – and where just like last night – just the clips and highlights – and whatever else that I haven’t hit yet too.

That said, then if you want my complete play-by-play, then check out my Tweeter/X feed, and as you can do by visiting this link: https://x.com/NYCTheMiC/

Let’s roll.

After all, then I have to be up for my own real j-o-b in just four hours!

And much like the Rangers, then my response to my own situation is UGH!

Quick, and as we all knew, told reporters after another pathetic effort in front of him that he wants to stay in New York – and that he’s not interested in moving at the deadline either. As talked about before, then Quick already has his place in the HOF long cemented – and all of the hardware too – and since he’s local – then he doesn’t want to uproot his family at this stage of his life. I’m fine with that – and respect it too. Heck, I hope that he stays with the organization come the day he retires to boot! Photo Credit: Getty Images

FIRST PERIOD

In a battle that began by featuring two Stanley Cup winning goalies (Quick’s three to Kuemper’s one), then Albert told us that Kuemper had lost his last three games – but he also didn’t tell us how many games Quick has lost in a row.

Again, just some more propaganda here – and I’ll try to dead this talk for good now too!

Eighteen-seconds in – and blammo – Kempe made it 1-0:

All you could do was laugh or cry after this – and I chose the former – as I refuse to allow myself to get my hopes up anymore.

After all, then don’t forget about my season-long mantra this season, you know, this one:

Having low expectations also applies to the team owner who won’t fire the carnival general manager.

While yeah, this was a “Quick” goal allowed (har-har-har); but this also wasn’t a good look for either Gabe Perreault or Schneider either.

In fact, and I know that many people get on Schneider these days anyway – but I think this was the worst game that I have seen him play this season.

For the now-veteran, formerly known as “Baby Troobs,” then B-Schneids finished as a game-low -2 – and where he also took a game-high two penalties too.

Following their early goal scored and the Kings received the first power-play of the match at the 1:33 mark, as Matthew Robertson took his customary, and in what now feels mandatory too, penalty – and this time for tripping Kevin Fiala.

The Kings’ power-play came into this game ranked 29th-overall in the league – and where after tonight – that number got worse – as they finished 0-3 on Tuesday.

But since the Rangers’ power-play was no better – then the Kings’ lack of a man-up goal didn’t play into the final equation.

The Blueshirts’ PK finished 1/1 here – and where they didn’t allow a SOG either – a game highlight for them.

As there wasn’t that much offense being displayed early sans the Kempe goal; then all of the empty seats in L.A. were fairly noticeable.

I don’t know if something else was going on in-town, but this wasn’t just your “late arriving crowd” excuse either – as these seats (mainly in the expensive lower-bowl) remained empty all game.

I only bring this up, because, and as previously noted on this site for everyone in the “FIRE DRURY” camp – then if you want the GM canned – then you can’t attend games at M$G.

The only way Dolan will get rid of the ZOOM ZOOM Pizza Makin’ bozo is you don’t buy tickets.

Dolan will only take action if he sees his building empty – and less money in his coffers.

But yeah – this is New York – so for every fan that avoids M$G – then ten more will show up – and perhaps even more than that due to the never-ending tourists – and hopefully tourists that this new commie and inept mayor will run out of town too!

At the 7:00 mark, and with a SOG counter of 3-1 Rangers (and with the Kings still shooting at 100% too), then Gavrikov got a welcome back video.

This was very classy – and especially when you consider the fact that Gavrikov rebuffed the Kings’ offer during the summer and then took less money to play in New York than he would’ve received in L.A. or elsewhere.

Just to give you one of the many examples of the Blueshirts’ receiving breaks; then, and with 12:20 to go, Quinton Byfield, perhaps another bust like Alexis Lafreniere, missed the net on a back-handed breakaway shot.

Very easily, and it could’ve been 2-0 here.

After that, the Morrow shot, the Cuylle tip and the deflection off a King defender for the 1-1 goal:

And just 42-seconds later – and Fiala regained the lead for the home team:

2-1, LA.

Down to 10:20 remaining and Quick prevented a 3-1 score as he robbed Alex Turcotte.

Following some back-and-forth, then, and down to 3:24 remaining, and this is when Mika and Miller hooked up on this perfectly executed 2-2 goal:

As we neared the end of the period, then this is when Kuemper left the game after the brush of contact with Jonny Broadway:

Boyle also said that he felt like the injury to Kuemper wasn’t that bad either – but again – and sometimes you just get hit the wrong way.

Forsberg then entered the game – and that was it for the Rangers.

2-2 after 20.

Here’s what I said at the time:
— #NYR are getting outplayed, but are tied where it matters.
— Didn’t look like much contact on DK, but now the Rangers get a chance against a cold goalie and a Kings team missing Doughty, Kopitar and Moore too.
— SOG are 8-8 and where they aren’t giving Quick much help either.
— Only one penalty, Rangers PK 1-1 and no SOG allowed.

SECOND PERIOD

As we hit this middle period, then the over of -5.5, and to quote the former New Yorker now L.A. resident Larry Daivd – was looking “pretty, pretty, pretty good!”

And with the Kings out-scoring the Rangers 2-0 this period – and the over had hit long before the third period had commenced too!

As Kempe was hellbent on scoring his second goal (an L.A. team-high four SOG), then instead of him it was Taylor Ward – who of course – scored his first goal of the season, just like anyone else, against the Rangers:

3-2, Kings.

Right after this and Fourth-Line Ward and Co. threatened for another goal – but Quick survived this attack.

Forsberg, again, cold-as-ice when entering this match, was barely tested at this point.

He made one save on Trocheck with 13:00 to go, then made his best save at this point of the match on Soucy some 57-seconds later.

After that?

Then this is when Forsberg put on his big boy pants – and channeled his inner Terry Sawchuk too.

Here’s how the Rangers’ five-forward 5 x 3 power-play fared against the back-up goalie (Cuylle was in for Gavrikov):

Mika stopped. Trocheck denied. A loose puck was frozen. Miller fought off, Panarin’s rebound denied, a Trocheck shot blocked, a Mika miss, Panarin stopped again, Mika blocked, Miller denied again, a Kings’ clear and that was it – the L.A. penalty kill was not only now 2/2 – but had prevented the Rangers from both tying and taking the lead to boot.

Again – seven saves in total for Forsberg – and where afterwards – then not only did the Rangers deserve to lose – but you knew they would too.

The goalie was soon rewarded, as the Rangers, who couldn’t clear many pucks tonight, then allowed another broken play goal – and where this time – it was Kuzmenko that became the “Blueshirts’ Beneficiary”:

4-2, L.A.

Not happy being down by only two, then Schneider immediately took a d-zone tripping penalty after getting tied up with Byfield.

It could’ve been 5-2 here – but Fiala, while having a vacated and gaping net to shoot at – broke his stick after winding up.

This then led to a Cuylle 2 x 1 short-handed attack – but he lost the puck – as that’s how it goes these days.

End result?

A 2/2 Rangers’ PK – and one save for Quick too.

Not happy with only taking one penalty tonight, then, and with 3:49 to go, Schneider took an o-zone penalty after interfering with Edmundson.

No joke?

Then I thought that Schneider was going for the “SIN BIN HAT TRICK” – as all he needed after these o-zone and d-zone penalties was a penalty in the neutral zone.

He didn’t get it tonight – but I wouldn’t rule out such a thing come Friday in San Jose – which ironically – is a city where he made his NHL debut (and scored his first goal too).

Quick stopped Kuzmenko on a tough shot and that was pretty much it during these two-minutes – and where afterwards – the Rangers’ PK was now a perfect 3/3.

At least there’s that.

4-2, LA, after 40.

Here’s what I said at the time:

— Special Teams Swing Games – but where of course only the #NYR could do this, they are 3/3 on the PK, but 0-2 on the PP – and one that was 1:36 long.
— Forsberg, who entered the game cold, is a perfect 16/16 – and with 7 saves on the PK
— Schneider has been horrid.
— Wake up Dolan, Fire Drury!
— So many broken plays and failed clears for goals in Quick’s net.

I don’t serve you false narratives here, which is my way of saying that Gabe Perreault (zero SOG, one brutal turnover for a goal allowed) was ineffective tonight. But I can live with that – and where of course – I’m rooting for him to shine too. After all, then outside of Perreault and Noah Laba – and the prospect ranks are paper-thin in Rangerstown, USA these days. Photo Credit: Getty Images

THIRD PERIOD

By this point of the game – and I wanted it to be over with.

To start, then this is when Sullivan started double-shifting the best asset of this year’s NHL trade deadline.

I’m telling you – if they don’t trade Panarin by the weekend, then he’s gonna get hurt.

It’s just the way it works here.

Nothing ever goes right for this franchise.

Not much went on during this period, so we can blow through these twenty-minutes – and let’s do so in a bullet-point fashion:

— The Rangers, still down by two, watched their opponents be the aggressor for the majority of the period.

— Laferriere made it 5-2 with 9:54 to go – but upon a Sully review, which only prolonged the inevitable, and the goal was overturned.

— As noted up top, this was goalie interference – but where Carrick’s high-stick on Perry went uncalled too.

— Once having his goal overturned? Then Alex “NO RELATIONS TO ALEXIS LAFRENIERE JOE – I TESTED THEIR DNA TOO JOE” Laferriere almost scored five-seconds later after a feed from Brandt “NO RELATIONS TO BOBBY JOE” Clarke.

— Every other L.A. shift from this period led to an odd-man rush against – and man oh man – did I feel bad for Quick.

— Seriously? Then the Ranger skaters celebrated Quick’s birthday like a dead-beat father abandoning his son. Heck, the Blueshirts treated Quick as if he was Chris Benoit with his own son!

— One last thing on the M$GN propaganda – then I swear – I’ll stop.

— Down 4-2 with 6:30 remaining and Boyle was drawing up Blueshirt comeback possibilities.

— I had a better shot of winning the Powerball when compared to the Rangers’ chances of winning this game – and where they were required to score three unanswered goals in order to do so.

— As we hit the FOXWOODS FINAL FIVE mark, then it was noticeable that Mika had no SOG, as what we previously thought were #93 SOG during the Rangers’ 5 x 3 power-play were actually late shot blocks by the Kings’ PK.

— More Rangers’ crying from the leadership, as Trocheck, with 4:17 to go, was bawling his eyes out to one of the officials after a Forsberg save on Sin Bin Schneider.

— Quick left his net for the extra attacker with 2:48 to go.

— Ceci (miss), Forsberg (blocked by Mika) and Kempe (miss and a Lafreniere block) all had cracks to put the game away – and as they did with just 69 (nice) seconds remaining.

— Sully’s useless timeout with 33-seconds to go, Miller’s 4-3 too little, too late, goal with 25.8-seconds to go and the Kings’ 4-3 win over the brutally bad Blueshirts.

The Rangers will lose to the San Jose Sharks on Friday night. Photo Credit: NYR

I’m sure that the Blueshirts sold their fans their same old bullshit after the loss – but I can’t be bothered to watch their post-game interviews after matches like this anymore.

UP NEXT FOR THE WRETCHED RANGERS: An undeserved off-day on Wednesday, followed by a Thursday practice, then the fourth-and-final game of this road-trip on Friday night in San Jose.

Of Note: It was the Sharks’ 6-5 overtime win against the Rangers at M$G from 10/23 (the dueling Celebrini and Raddysh hat trick game) that ended the losing in San Jose – and where today – the rebuilding teal team now has a playoff spot.

Slump-buster Blueshirts!

Good luck Goodrow – the catalyst of this present Rangers’ demise.

The Sharks, who also played on Tuesday night (4-1 loss in Tampa), and like the Rangers, are also idle until Friday night – and who better for them to play when trying to get back on track other than Silly Sully’s Squad?

The only thing to look out for from now until Friday?

If the booger eater Chris Drury makes a trade.

And if you haven’t noticed it already, then my confidence in this franchise isn’t exactly at an all-time high right now.

But alas, I still plug on.

And speaking of the word “plug?”

  1. We win almost 3/4 of the faceoffs yet lose. Disgusting! But of course that one goal LA scored off a faceoff was a bit of a back breaker. I don’t think Quick really has it any more, and we should bring up Garand. Thankfully I watched the game via a recording of it, so I only wasted an hour of my life rather than 2 1/ 2 hours.
